I don’t know about you, but I love to read. Actually, I love having read.
I love feeding my mind with information and inspiration that helps me be the best me I can be.
Won’t it be nice to someday be able to acquire knowledge and experience nearly instantly, like in the Matrix movie when Trinity needed to learn how to fly a helicopter and Tank downloads the program to her memory in mere seconds? Continue reading Knowledge: Acquiring More, Faster
If you’ve never lost your keys, you’re either 1) lying or 2) you don’t own a car and you’re homeless or 3) you’ve been blessed with a photographic memory or parents who taught you what I’m about to teach you! Continue reading Have You Ever Lost your Keys?
Last week I wrote about the lightning bolt that cut off the top half of one of our 40′ maple trees. According to the American Meteorological Society (AMS), lightning kills more people per year (on average) than hurricanes and tornadoes combined.
After seeing the effects of an electrical storm first hand with my own eyes, in my own backyard, I have a deeper respect for the power of electrical storms.
Imagine an electrical storm hits your house and fries all of your computer equipment, including the external hard drive you use to back everything up. (You do have a backup solution, don’t you?) How would that affect your productivity? Not good. Continue reading Making It Easy To Protect Your Electrical Equipment During An Electrical Storm
On Saturday, June 26, 2010, a severe thunder and lightning storm hit our backyard and cut off the top half of one of our beautiful 40′ maple trees. The wind and rain was so strong at one point the visibility was only about 10′.
I hear some people say they don’t like the weather here in Tennessee. We have a saying, “If you don’t like the weather, stick around for a few minutes (or hours).” It can change quite dramatically very quickly. Saturday was no exception. Continue reading Lightning: ONE Way To Prune A Tree
I love this principle! Maybe it’s because I’m Italian/Sicilian. Or maybe it’s because it’s simple, yet extremely powerful for increasing your productivity.
Even if you’ve heard this before, unless you are consciously using it on a fairly consistent basis, let this be a reminder to keep it top of mind. It’s not what you know, but what you know and use. Continue reading The Pareto Principle (80-20 Rule)
I used to hate it when the bass player of my band would be packed up and on the road in less than 5 minutes and it would take me about 45 minutes before I was ready to leave. I call this “the drummer’s plight.” Continue reading The Principle of ICAN
Frequently I fly to a city and then have to rent a car and drive to a hotel near the event where I’ll be speaking or training the following day. I drive anywhere from around 20 minutes to up to 3 hours depending on the location. I did a lot of this kind of travel before the proliferation of GPS navigation devices, i.e., Garmin, Magellan, TomTom, iPhone, etc. Continue reading Don’t Get Lost (helpful travel tip)
A colleague called me the other day for some advice on productivity. He was going to be doing some training for a client who wanted a short segment on time management. Continue reading Creative Leveraging

Managing your tickler file system:
It’s very simple to use and might take a total of 10 seconds if you’re really slow.
It’s not a lot of work. All you have to do is check it first thing in the morning to see what’s in today’s file. If there is something there, take it out and put it in your In box/basket. Then move the current day’s hanging file to the back. Continue reading How To Set Up a Tickler File System, Part 2
