The natural inclination of every human being is to be happy (gain pleasure) and avoid pain and suffering.
You don’t want the big new house, the new car, the perfect relationship, or even the perfect family visit this holiday season. You want the positive feelings you think you will get as a result of having these things and/or you want to avoid the negative feelings you may experience from not having them.
What does this have to do with productivity? Everything! How productive is it to go after things for success, happiness, or fulfillment when you’re really after the feelings associated with having them?
The ability to have the feelings you want — unconditionally — is the ultimate in productivity. When you know how to internally generate those positive feelings, you will be coming from joy, peace of mind, and you will exude a ‘relaxed confidence.’ You will ‘happily achieve.’
I can hear some people thinking, “If I feel happy or successful now, won’t that diminish my motivation to succeed at a higher level?” Actually, we now know the opposite to be true. You can read more about this here.
When you come from a place of peace of mind, relaxation and happiness regardless of current circumstances, you are far more productive then when you are anxious or worried about what you don’t have.
I’m not saying that you shouldn’t have goals. Far from it! You need goals to stay focused and to track your progress.
But when you condition your success or happiness on the attainment of things, you give away your mastery to something beyond your control. The only thing over which you have complete and total control is your thoughts. Everything else is subject to elements beyond your control. You can have strong influence over other people and events, but you can’t control them.
Since you can only totally control your thoughts and you want to experience positive feelings and avoid negative ones, why not commit to learning how to manifest those feelings now, for no reason other than to experience them — unconditionally? Wouldn’t that be a lot more productive than going for stuff that may or may not happen when you want it to happen? Absolutely. And you’ll be a lot happier in the mean time.
I encourage you to ‘cut to the chase’ and unconditionally go directly to the positive feelings you want now and have an awesome Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza and/or any other Holy-Day you may or may not be celebrating!
